Flora of the Redding Sacramento River Trail

This trail is a 5.7 mile loop along the Sacramento River in west Redding. 263 species including 181 (N) natives and 82 (E) exotics have been identified at last count (12/29/09). The area covered by this flora is (East) from the Diestelhorst bridge to the (West) stress ribbon bridge and (South) from the abandoned railroad grade on the across the Sacraments river (North) to the paved trail. The number(s) following the name is the month(s) of bloom. This flora was prepared by David Fritchle for his own use. Any errors are his. Flora of Salt Creek Created by David Fritchle
This flora containing both common and scientific names has been years in the making. Salt Creek is on the western border of Redding. The portion covered by this flora is between Eureka Way and the Sacramento River Trail. Most years, the extended bloom in this area begins in February and concludes in September. David has led frequent hikes along Salt Creek for the local chapter of the California Native Plant Society.
